The facts
What you are actually signing up for
Credit hire is a good deal for not-at-fault drivers, but it is not magic and it is not free. Here is the whole picture before you commit.
01
This is credit hire, not a free car
You are entering a hire agreement with Car Crash Rentals. Nobody hands out free cars. What we do is carry the cost while your claim runs and then pursue the at-fault insurer for it.
02
No upfront hire payment and no security deposit
Eligible not-at-fault drivers pay nothing up front for the hire itself and we do not hold a bond.
03
A credit card is required
We take a card for tolls, infringements, fuel shortfall, cleaning, damage and any insurance excess or extras. Those are yours, not the insurer's.
04
You remain liable for the hire charges
Under the Rental Agreement the hire charges are yours. We seek recovery from the at-fault insurer, but we cannot guarantee what any insurer will pay.
05
Recovery may be pursued in your name
If the at-fault insurer disputes the claim, recovery action may be issued in your name. You must cooperate, which can include providing a statement or evidence.
06
Two documents before any car goes out
A Rental Agreement and a Mandate and Authority to Act. Read both before you sign them. Ask us anything that is unclear.
07
Approval is a human decision
It depends on fault, the other party's details, recoverability from their insurer and what we have available. There is no instant online approval.

What you pay for
- Fuel or charging you use
- Tolls incurred during the hire
- Traffic and parking infringements, plus any administration fee
- Cleaning where the vehicle is returned excessively dirty
- Damage you cause, up to the applicable excess
- Optional extras such as additional drivers or child seats where they apply
Read the Rental Agreement and the Mandate and Authority to Act before you sign either document.
