Rental Agreement
This page summarises the agreement in plain English. The full document is sent to you to read and sign before any vehicle is delivered.
What the Rental Agreement does
It is the hire contract between you and Car Crash Rentals for the replacement vehicle. It sets the hire rate, the hire period, who may drive, where the vehicle may be driven and what happens if it is damaged.
Key terms you should expect
- Hire charges are calculated at a daily rate for each day the vehicle is with you.
- You remain contractually liable for those charges. Car Crash Rentals seeks recovery from the at-fault insurer, but the liability under this agreement is yours.
- No upfront hire payment and no security deposit for eligible not-at-fault drivers.
- A valid credit card in the hirer's name is required for tolls, infringements, fuel shortfall, cleaning, damage and any applicable excess.
- Only drivers named on the agreement may drive, and each must hold a current, valid Australian licence.
- The vehicle must not be driven while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, used for racing, used to carry passengers for hire, or driven on unsealed roads or beaches unless we have agreed in writing.
- You must report any accident, damage or theft to us immediately and cooperate with any investigation.
- The hire period ends when your own vehicle is repaired and returned, or when a total-loss settlement is paid, whichever applies.
- We may end the hire early if the claim is found not to be recoverable, if the vehicle is misused, or if you stop cooperating with the recovery process.
